Idalia.

She/Her. Florida.

Idalia is an undocumented college student in south Florida who does not qualify for DACA. She shares how at the onset of the pandemic, her grandmother was stranded in the United States and how her family grappled with food insecurity. She also highlights the obstacles she faced accessing testing and treatment after her family contracted COVID-19.

Felipa.

She/Her. Arizona.

Felipa is an undocumented mother, grandmother, and loving child caregiver. She is also an activist who fought for, and won, the expansion of DACA and Deferred Action for Parents of Americans (DAPA) during the Obama administration. In the summer of 2020 her entire family tested positive for COVID-19 and she received no support from the federal government. She shares how her community came together to look after her, and why her biggest dream is for Biden to sign permanent protections for immigrants into law.

Leidy.

She/Her. California.

Leidy is a teenager who finished high school and moved away to college in the middle of the pandemic. Due to Trump’s termination of DACA in 2017, she is venturing into adulthood with a mixture of uncertainty and immense hope. She shares about the sacrifices her parents have made under Covid to support her dreams and the urgent need for Biden to enact citizenship that will protect her whole family and all 11 million undocumented people.

Margarita.

She/Her. Texas.

Margarita is an undocumented restaurant worker and a single mother of six. A proud worker, she shares how losing one of her two full time jobs in the midst of the pandemic impacted her family, and how the experience of living through COVID-19 shares similarities with the daily uncertainty all undocumented people face.

Olimpia.

She/Her. New York.

Olimpia is an undocumented caregiver who prior to COVID-19 looked after a cancer patient. She did not qualify for the federal stimulus check and contracted COVID-19. Now in recovery, she shares how the neighbors she’s known since immigrating to the United States began disappearing one-by-one as New York went into lockdown.

Viktor.

They/Them. Wyoming.

Viktor is a DACA recipient, a grocery store worker, and proud uncle. Having worked in retail and grocers for most of their young adult life, Vik was shocked to find themselves caught between the wellbeing of their family and that of the elderly customers that shop at their store everyday.
